Herring Boat
This double-ended sailing skiff is typical of the boats used on the west coast of Scotland for the herring industry. They were built to be safe offshore running before the wind in heavy weather. The hull shape is still popular among traditional and island fishermen - but examples in wood are fewer and further between. This drawing is made from a skiff now housed in a museum.
