Caol Ila’s Bowsprit

Here the sailing vessel Caol Ila roars along in a quartering breeze as seen in the movie footage on the home page. She is sailing at above 8 knots and at that speed the view from the bowsprit is really exciting! Traditional sailing boats with their heavy displacement and massive sail area generate a lot of power, forcing the bow through the sea and tearing it into sheets of flying spray.
