I like this quirky little drawing. You see, everywhere along the coast of Islay there are boat sheds many of them long since abandoned, but all of them are a reminder of the past social history of the island. Inside you glimpse pieces of chandlery, old rope, boats, sails, fishing nets, creels made from hazelnut withies, winches, bits of wood, sweeps, linseed oil, paraffin...and everything is crumbling; but as it does so, the character of the sheds seems to grow!
