Bowmore Pier
On the Hebbredean island of Islay, this pier in the pricipal town of Bowmore was where all cargo arrived from the mainland; and where the island’s main produce, whisky, was loaded. It was a gathering place for the old-timers who came for a ‘wee blether’ and to watch the world go by. The pier still stands much as it was, but all transport and goods now arrive on cargo ferries at the deeper water Ports of Ellen and Askaig.
